Why choose Windsor Grill for your business dinner?

From finding the right location and deciding on menu options to sending out the invitations and figuring out how your guests are going to get there, a lot of thought goes into planning a business dinner.

We may not be able to determine your guest list or organise transport for the evening but we certainly can take care of the food and location for you. Over the years we have become a firm favourite with our business clientele because they know they can rely on us to provide an experience that’s guaranteed to impress clients, senior management and team members.

Why exactly is Windsor Grill such a great place to host corporate events?

Different room options to suit your needs

Whether you’re looking to impress a couple of important clients with an intimate dinner or you want to host a full drinks and canapes evening for a large group, we offer a range of private hire options for corporate events.

You can book a table in the main dining area or we have a private room upstairs which can comfortably seat 12 people. This is the ideal setting for private business meetings or a staff party where the drinks can flow and you don’t have to worry about being too noisy.

We also have a semi-private room located to the side of our main dining area. This can seat up to 16 for dinner.

For larger events, you can hire out the entire venue. We can seat up to 50 people or if you would prefer a standing drinks and canape event, we can cater for up to 100 people.

Bespoke packages

We understand that you want your business dinner to be special and unique which is why we’re more than happy to take special requests. Simply let us know what you would like in advance and we will make sure this is taken care of for you.

If you have a large party for example and you have a particular wine preference, even if it’s not something we usually stock, we will order it in for you. We believe that it’s these little touches that will really help you to go the extra mile for your event.

Additionally, if you simply want to book your table or room and then leave the rest to us, you’re welcome to do so. Simply let us know your budget and we can put together a bespoke package so all you need to worry about is turning up on the night.

Great food

We pride ourselves on the fact that we’re not just an average chain restaurant. Windsor Grill is an independent restaurant which uses the very best ingredients cooked to perfection by our talented chefs. From 28-day aged Surrey Farm Beef to our Chef Patron’s popular specials, we always serve A la Carte because we like to cook things fresh and to the highest standards.

A lot of restaurants require pre-orders for corporate events – this is something we don’t do at Windsor Grill. We feel that not only does this make the booking process stressful and time-consuming, we also understand that you probably don’t know what you’re going to want to eat weeks in advance.

Great location

Our restaurant is ideally located just a short walk from Windsor’s town centre. As well as being a stone’s throw away from the castle, shops and many offices, we’re also just a short distance from Windsor’s two train stations which have great links from London, Slough, Reading, Richmond and Staines.

As well as being in an impressive location, our cosy restaurant is perfect if you’re looking for an intimate and homely atmosphere. To book your business dinner at Windsor Grill, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and we will be more than happy to help.

Our chef has even created a very special Father’s Day dish just for dad. Book with us and make the most of ‘Dad’s own Roast’ – 24oz rib of beef, giant Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings.

Five reasons why an independent restaurant is better than a chain

One thing you’re sure to discover while you’re in the area is that there are plenty of Windsor restaurants to choose from. If you’re struggling to decide what you fancy eating, let us give you a helping hand by pointing you in the direction of our established independent restaurant, in the heart of the town.

We know that there are some fantastic chain restaurants in Windsor but we feel that you will always get something special when choosing an independent restaurant.

Here are five reasons why:

1) Independent restaurants are unique

Chain restaurants have to provide their customers with the same experience regardless of which branch they’re visiting. This means that they have to adhere to strict specifications for everything from the food they serve to the music they play. In order to maintain the same standards across the country, it’s a bit ‘samey’.

In our independent Windsor restaurant, you get a unique experience you won’t find anywhere else.

2) Service is really important

Independent restaurants are usually family-run or are operated by a close-knit team. Their survival depends on providing excellent customer service so you can guarantee that the service is going to be incredibly attentive. Because independent restaurants also tend to be smaller, it means that the staff have more time to focus on you and your needs.

3) Flexibility matters

As we mentioned above, chain restaurants have strict standards they need to meet in order to ensure continuity across their branches. While they may be able to remove an ingredient from the dish you’ve selected, they’re fairly limited when it comes to allowing guests to make menu alterations.

Here at Windsor Grill, we let the ingredients do the talking and will have all sorts of different specials based on the best produce we’ve been able to procure that day or week.

4) We can act quickly on customer feedback

If you make a suggestion to a chain restaurant, it will probably take months to reach the person in charge and if changes are discussed, it could take a very long time to implement them.

With an independent restaurant, changes can be made almost immediately. Say for example there’s a cocktail you’d like to see on the menu, or that some flowers might brighten the place up a bit, an independent restaurant is far more likely to take your suggestions seriously and they can act on them almost immediately.

5) You’re supporting a local business

We offer a great sense of community, ensure that chain restaurants keep their prices competitive, provide variety and you’ll always know that David, our chef patron, wont be far away, either in the kitchen or front-of-house.

Whether you’re looking for Windsor restaurants to go for a birthday meal, a romantic night out, dinner with friends or colleagues or you need somewhere to eat in between sight-seeing, our team would love to see you. To book a table at Windsor Grill contact us on 01753 859 658 today.

Windsor restaurant launches menu fit for a royal

Windsor Grill, the award-winning grill restaurant on St Leonard’s Road, has today launched a special menu to mark the much-awaited wedding of HRH Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in May.

Running over the weekend of the wedding, the restaurant has developed a tailored menu which includes dishes and ingredients inspired by the couple.

It will include specials such as cottage pie and fish cakes, which are rumoured to be Prince Harry’s favourite dishes; as well as seared tuna nicoise, and linguine with slow-cooked courgettes, lemon and goats cheese, which are twists on Ms Markle’s favourite meals.

The restaurant has even sourced Grey Owl Goat’s cheese from Fromagerie Le Detour in Quebec, Canada – which is believed to be Ms Markle’s favourite cheese.

Alongside these, the restaurant is also laying on a special elderflower and lemon dessert as this has been confirmed as the choice of flavour of the royal wedding cake itself.

Chef Patron David Wilby has also worked with his wine supplier to locate two rare wines from a vineyard in Australia. The wines, named Elizabeth and Philip, pay homepage to Prince Harry’s grandparents and were first produced when Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Philip visited the wine estate during their honeymoon.

The restaurant, which is usually only open for dinner on Monday to Saturday, is extending its opening hours to fit around the wedding weekend. It will be open from Saturday at 2pm to 10pm and Sunday afternoon 11.30am to 4pm (last orders), offering lunch and dinner on the Saturday and brunch and lunch on the Sunday.

Wilby said: “As a proud independent Windsor restaurant, we are very excited about the wedding. It’s really important to mark these occasions which is why, alongside our usual favourites, we thought we’d have a bit of fun with our menus.

“Our regular customers know how much effort we go to in order to provide good food using the best ingredients. That’s why we’ve scoured the globe to make sure that we have some special items on the menu for such a special occasion.

“Whilst we are sure the catering will be spectacular at the castle, Prince Harry and Ms Markle should be comforted to know that we have some of their favourites ready should they wish to pop out for a bit.”

For food heaven, eat seasonal and local

Seasonal cooking is a phrase that gets bandied around a lot but what does it actually mean?

Put simply, it means cooking with locally sourced ingredients when they are at their best. And their best is when they are ready for harvest, at maximum freshness and flavour and usually at their most cost effective too.

That’s because food that is not in season locally usually has to be grown in hot greenhouses or shipped in from other parts of the world, which all has an impact on both texture and taste.

Produce that is grown for shipping must be harvested early and chilled so it doesn’t decompose before reaching its final destination and there’s a good chance it won’t ripen as well as it would where it was being grown.

Britain’s natural larder offers new crops of some of the most delicious produce with every passing month. Think tangy fresh rhubarb in March and sweet juicy strawberries in June; earthy wild mushrooms in September and rich gamey venison in December. We’ve got lots of fantastic produce in and around the Windsor area too.

Sourcing seasonal local produce for a restaurant means we can up your cooking game too because ingredients that are available at roughly the same time usually complement each other brilliantly.

That’s why in April you can pull together a fantastic dish of spring lamb, wild garlic and Jersey Royals to produce a fantastic plate of food heaven.

The benefits of eating seasonal and local food go far beyond flavour. It’s great for the environment too. Importing out of season produce costs more in terms of hard cash and a carbon footprint.

Here at Windsor Grill, we offer a changing list of daily specials that make the most of the best produce on offer at the time. So as the leaves turn, temperatures drop and the long nights draw in, we serve up the ultimate in delicious comfort food.

A starter of warm salad of wood pigeon, bacon and wild mushrooms on grilled polenta with truffle dressing perhaps, or maybe a hearty soup of cauliflower

When winter warmers are the order of the day we might offer a 10 hour slow roast short rib with celeriac puree & roast beets, before getting ready for the fresh vibrancy that are delivered by the ingredients of the spring and summer months.

Whatever the time of year, we’ll always do our best to let the ingredients do the talking.

If you’re interested to see what’s in season, there are some good resources online.
